How to play Steam Games on Chromebook
What is Steam?
Steam is an insanely popular online gaming platform with millions of users. Unfortunately, it's not easily available on a Chromebook
Step One: Install Linux on your Chromebook using crouton :
Follow the instructions found at http://chromebookhacks.blogspot.ca/2018/05/how-to-install-linux-on-chromebook_28.html
Step Two: Install Steam in the terminal:
While in your Linux desktop environment, open your terminal and type:
$ sudo apt-get install steam
Enter your sudo password when prompted.
Enter your sudo password when prompted.
Alternate Method: Run Widows Steam using WINE
You may have noticed that the version of Steam installed using the previous method doesn't support quite as many games as the versions of Steam that you might have used on Windows or Mac OS. Here's a way that you can install WINE to run .exe files that are normally only used on windows.
First type in the terminal:
$ sudo apt-get install wine
Once steam is downloaded, run the .exe file and it should automatically lauch in WINE. From there, you can download and install any game from steam that you would be able to on linux.
Get playing!
